Excellence Across Industries

about us

DrM, Dr. Mueller AG was founded in 1982 by Dr. Hans Mueller (1913-1984), a visionary engineer from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). His groundbreaking work led to over 400 patented inventions, many of which revolutionized chemical processes worldwide. His legacy continues to shape the industry today.

DrM is Headquartered in Switzerland with subsidiaries in Poland, China, India, USA, Malaysia and Singapore. Our global reach is further strengthened through a network of sales agencies, licensees, representatives, and dedicated sales offices.

As a privately held company, DrM is managed by a team of highly skilled technical and creative professionals. Our core mission is to develop cutting-edge solid-liquid separation solutions that contribute to a cleaner environment while delivering significant financial benefits for our clients. Our filtration systems, with fully enclosed designs, automation, and integrated washing and drying processes, have played a key role in achieving these objectives.

DrM specializes in custom-designed filtration and mixing systems to meet the unique demands of diverse industrial applications. Whether using our FUNDABAC® or CONTIBAC® candle filters, we work closely with clients to develop solutions that align perfectly with their processes.

our story

DrM is Founded

DrM was founded by Dr. Hans Müller in Männedorf, Switzerland. In the years leading up to its creation, he invented and patented a new type of filtration system - a breakthrough that would mark a small revolution in the chemical industry.

The company began by manufacturing and supplying these innovations under the names FUNDABAC® and CONTIBAC® filter technologies, primarily to chemical companies. Alongside these systems, DrM also offered lab-scale filtration sets, pilot units, and spare parts, establishing a strong foundation for its future growth.

Dr. Hans Müller’s Legacy

Dr. Hans Müller, the visionary behind over 400 patented innovations, paved the way for groundbreaking advancements. In 1939, he patented the car catalyst to combat urban pollution—long before environmental concerns became mainstream.

After WWII, he joined Nestlé, developing drying and concentrating equipment for food products. His invention of the thin film evaporator became a key milestone in processing technology.

Later, he founded Chemap, focusing on filtration technologies. His FUNDA Filter became a cornerstone in thousands of chemical plants worldwide.

A pioneer in biotech processing, he introduced innovative devices that positioned his company as a leader in this rapidly growing field.

Dr. Müller passed away in 1984, leaving behind a legacy of technical excellence and industry-shaping innovation.

1984

1986

Introduction of the Heel Volume Filtration Process

Heel volume filtration became a key requirement for batch-based production processes. DrM’s patented solution addressed this need by enabling efficient recovery of the remaining product at the end of each filtration cycle. This innovation opened the door to new industries, including pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals, where product yield and minimal loss are critical.

1986

1997

Launch of STERIBAC®

DrM introduces STERIBAC®, a hygienic version of the FUNDABAC® filter specifically designed to meet GMP standards. This adaptation enables the company to expand into the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industries, where strict hygiene and regulatory compliance are essential.

1997

2001-15

Global Expansion

Between 2001 and 2015, DrM established key subsidiaries in the USA (2001), China (2005), Poland (2005), India (2011), and Malaysia (2015) to support its growing international presence. These strategic locations allow us to serve local markets more effectively, streamline logistics, and offer regional support including engineering, testing, and after-sales services.

This global network ensures we stay close to our clients while maintaining the high standards DrM is known for.

2001-15

2013-18

FUNDAMIX® Revival & Innovation

In 2013, DrM reacquired the Vibromixer technology originally developed by Dr. Hans Müller, reintroducing it under the FUNDAMIX® name. A newly patented vibratory drive marked the start of its next chapter.

By 2018, the drive was completely redesigned with a carbon fibre plate, replacing the traditional springs to significantly reduce noise — leading to the launch of FUNDAMIX® Silent.

2013-18

2020

Single-Use Technology

To meet the growing demand for flexible, high-purity processing, DrM has expanded into the Single-Use space with the launch of FUNDAMIX® SU - a ready-to-market vibratory mixing solution tailored for biotech and pharmaceutical applications. It is complemented by the Single-Use Pinch Valve, designed for reliable and sterile flow control.

Production and assembly of these components take place in DrM’s dedicated ISO-certified clean room facility, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.

In parallel, DrM is finalizing the development of FUNDALOOP®, a patented Single-Use filtration system engineered for chemical and biotech processes - soon to complete its R&D phase and enter the market.

DrM Poland Expansion

DrM Poland (DrM PL) has been an integral part of the DrM Group since 2005, serving as our key manufacturing and engineering hub in the EU. In 2021, the team relocated to a new, modern facility in Włocławek, significantly expanding production capacity and capabilities. The new site features over 3,800 m² of space across multiple halls, more than doubling the size of the original location. Today, DrM PL plays a critical role in the design, fabrication, and delivery of complex filtration and process equipment worldwide.

DrM India Expansion

In December 2025, DrM India relocated to a new and larger facility in Vadodara. The new site combines modern office space with dedicated workshop and assembly areas, strengthening local engineering, manufacturing, and service capabilities. This expansion supports DrM’s continued growth in India and across Asia and enhances regional customer support, project execution, and after-sales services, in line with the Group’s operational and quality standards.

sustainability practices

Environmental Responsibility

Environmental responsibility is key to our management decisions. For years, sustainability has guided our maintenance and investments to boost efficiency while minimizing impact. We focus on responsible resource management and renewable energy use.

Since 2009, DrM has tracked key metrics in an annual report, analyzing:

  • Commercial waste production

  • Disposal of auxiliary materials and chemicals

  • Water consumption

  • Electricity consumption

  • Natural gas and heating oil consumption

  • Solar power production

Energy Management

Since 2011, electricity consumption has been reduced by over 25% through energy-efficient equipment and lighting. The installation of rooftop photovoltaic panels now generates around 80 MWh of solar energy, covering approximately 25% of our electricity needs. Improved insulation and energy-saving windows have allowed us to eliminate oil heating, reducing natural gas consumption by more than 25% over 8 years.

Waste Management

Our manufacturing process primarily uses steel and plastics, resulting in metal and plastic waste. Over the past 10 years, we’ve reduced this waste by over 25%, recycling materials whenever possible. Chemical waste, mainly from client testing, is limited to around 500 kg per year, with leftover materials returned to the origin whenever possible.

Water Management

Water resource in Switzerland is not of major relevance. Nevertheless, consumption was optimized wherever possible and savings of around 15% were achieved.

Reduced Risk, Footprint
& Emissions

Our systems are designed for fully automatic, closed operations that ensure zero emissions and no risk to the environment or humans. The compact design optimizes space and reduces project footprint.

Customized Solutions

We custom-design filtration systems to meet specific client needs, offering both standalone candle filters and turnkey automated solutions. Our vibratory mixing products include standard models with flexible options to fit technical and budget requirements.

Application-Specific Design

Each solid-liquid separation application is unique. DrM begins by discussing the project with the client and requesting an application questionnaire. After reviewing the information, DrM specialists may recommend on-site testing or piloting to ensure the process is scalable and to provide a reliable technical/commercial proposal.

Long-term Oriented Relations

We value long-lasting partnerships with our suppliers, which are key to our strong customer relationships. By working closely with stakeholders, we develop customized products that meet customer needs. We carefully select suppliers who manage their businesses sustainably and maintain ongoing partnerships to ensure quality and stable supply.
